Information on the Analysis 

TSL has partnered with Invisible Sentinel/bioMéreiux to use their State-of-the-Art Gene-Up platform and a range of patented technologies to deliver the Gold Standard COVID-19 virus test using very sensitive, highly specific PCR-based assays. Samples are collected from the anterior nares using patented swab technology and a collection technique that is part of an EUA granted by the US FDA to Biocerna for this test. Samples are processed in our specially-designed biosafety Level 2 (BSL2) American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) ISO 17205-accredited laboratory and run on RT-PCR using a protocol that is specifically designed for SARS-CoV-2. TSL is the only Jamaican provider that uses technology and approaches for testing SARS-CoV-2 that have been verified and licensed by the Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC).

Sensitivity: 5 genomic copies per 5 microlitres

Specificity: 100% specific for SARS-CoV-2

Turnaround time: 24-36 hours (typically within 24h).

ENVIRONMENTAL TESTING CAPABILITIES – SARS-CoV-2 Virus

In response to the challenges being faced by Caribbean businesses across all sectors of their economies, TSL has developed a programme to identify, prevent and mitigate the risks of COVID-19 being introduced and spread in the course of regular business interactions.

The programme is particularly targeted to assist entities with continuing their operations, and where required, re-opening their facilities with effective COVID-19 mitigation programmes. TSL’s response programme manages the contingent issues on two levels.  First, by conducting a Rapid Assessment for COVID-19 Resilience, (TSL RAC), and second, through the execution of a comprehensive Risk Identification, Mitigation and Management Programme, the COVID-19 Assessment and Readiness Evaluation (TSL CARE).  Entities may opt for either TSL RAC or TSL CARE based on their needs and possible exposure.  Please download our brochure here.

TSL RAC / TSL CARE brochure

TSL CARE provides a comprehensive evaluation of an entity in its preparation, implementation, management, control and mitigation of microbial contamination centered around SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. This evaluation includes a full investigation and analysis of measures which have been implemented or are proposed to prevent and control contamination.

The programme covers risk identification for personnel, visitors, facilities, operations and systems, and includes specific steps to identify and prevent a COVID-19-positive visitor/guest, team member, contractor or a supplier from entering the facility. It includes comprehensive, level-appropriate training for all staff, using specifically tailored material that is scientifically accurate.

TSL will verify that any implemented system is working, through a combination of auditing and analytical testing. The supporting actions, training, risk assessments, communication, information sourcing and dissemination is evaluated for validity and effectiveness.
